CNN producer detained in Atlanta files lawsuit against immigration order
A CNN editor and producer who was detained Sunday at Atlanta's airport has filed a federal lawsuit challenging President Donald Trump's immigration order.
Mohammed Tawfeeq is an Iraqi national who has been a permanent legal resident of the United States since 2013.
As an editor, Tawfeeq frequently travels to the Middle East as part of his reporting duties, the lawsuit states.
Tawfeeq was detained Sunday at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, where he was subjected to additional screening that delayed his entry into the United States.
The suit states that applying this executive order to lawful permanent residents or green card holders returning after a brief trip abroad violates the Immigration and Nationality Act, the Administrative Procedure Act and the U.S. Constitution
And lots going on in the Twitterverse…..

Ben Sasse (R-of course) had the nerve to suggest they vote on Judge Gorsuch last night — with no hearings, no record reviews, etc. Ummm….NO.
x.@BenSasse he'll get as much consideration as you gave Garland. Also Presidents don't get to appoint SCOTUS judges in last yr of their term.

If you’re just joining us, the morning open thread is here
Good afternoon folks (good morning west coast). It’s the start of a new month, but the continuation of the fight against the Furor Fascism Trump & the GOP. Keep calling, writing, tweeting and/or Facebooking your Congresspeople. Let them know you support/oppose what they’re doing, and where you stand. Remember, they work for us. WE are their bosses. If you need to remind them of that, do it. They seem to forget that. On that note, happy chatting.
